The model BCT unit is specifically designed for the application of tape insulation systems to small motor and generator coils and bars. The coil-taping unit is bench mounted and provides a fast, accurate, and consistent method of operator guided mechanized tape application with virtually no preparation or set up time being required. Unlike other bench taping machines, the BCT 20/50VL DM drives the coil for consistent taping pitch. The adjustable capstans provide constant tape tension over the pad width. The taping head is removable and may be used as a standard BCT 20/50VL suspended taping machine. This feature enables the taping of long narrow coils. The 20/50VL DM taping machine is intended for use with low resin, or encapsulated resin tapes of 20 mm (¾”) widths. These can be applied at a variable overlap (typically ½ & 2/3) over the “in-slot” area and end legs of the coil or bar, in the case of a closed coil the length of covering being limited only by the clearance for machine access. Tape application speed is operator controlled via a foot pedal enabling the operator to confidently negotiate coil bends. A traverse-reversing gearbox, with directional control operated by another foot pedal, enables tape to be applied whilst traversing the work in either or both directions. |
